Cost by component
| Component | Price range I found | What drives the price |
|---|---|---|
| Launch monitor | $199.99–$25,995 | What it measures (ball only vs club data), camera vs radar, indoor accuracy. See my picks. |
| Net or enclosure + screen | $350–$3,410 | Net vs full enclosure, single vs triple-layer screen, aluminum vs DIY pipe frame. |
| Hitting mat | $349–$1,699 | How it handles hitting down on the ball, joint comfort, replaceable strips, size for lefty + righty. |
| Projector | $909–$4,899 | Short throw ratio, brightness (3,000–4,000 lumens is the common target), 1080p vs 4K, laser vs lamp. |
| Computer | $449–$3,200 | Phone or iPad apps vs a Windows gaming PC for GSPro; 4K needs more GPU. |
| Turf and flooring | $229.95–$3,699.99 | Landing pad vs wall-to-wall turf; foam underlay over concrete. |
| Installation | $0 (DIY)–$4,999.99+ | Most kits are DIY. Shop Indoor Golf charges $4,999.99 with its packages. |
| Electrical and lighting | $200–$1,000 | Dedicated circuits and outlets near the projector and PC (Rain or Shine estimate). |

Where to save, and where not to
- Save on the frame: a DIY enclosure on 1" EMT conduit (kits from Shop Indoor Golf and Carl's Place) costs far less than an installed room. Owners use a conduit cutter or a reciprocating saw.
- Save on the projector at first: an entry short-throw laser like the Optoma ZW350ST ($909) works in a dark room. Upgrade later.
- Don't skimp on the mat: owners with joint pain mostly moved away from very firm mats toward Fiberbuilt, gel or replaceable-strip mats. That's anecdotal, but it comes up again and again.
- Don't buy the launch monitor for the sticker price: compare the 3-year cost instead.
Questions people ask
How much does a basic home golf simulator cost?
About $1,300 for the first year using a Garmin R10, a budget net, a Fiberbuilt mat and Garmin Golf, with a phone or tablet as the display. With an enclosure, screen and projector, packages start around $3,600.
How much does a Trackman simulator cost?
The Trackman iO starts at $13,995 for the unit, with software at $700–$1,100 a year after year one. Rain or Shine's Trackman iO SwingBay package is $17,494, and Trackman's installed rooms start at $43,995.
Is a golf simulator worth the money?
It depends on how often you'll use it. A budget setup costs about the same as a year or two of range sessions for a regular player, while a premium room is a home-renovation-level purchase. Price it with your real yearly plan before deciding.
Does a golf simulator add value to a house?
I didn't find reliable data on resale value, so I can't say. Built-in rooms are a renovation; portable enclosures go with you when you move.
