Launch monitor subscription costs, compared

The price on the box is often the smaller number. Some launch monitors need a plan to play simulated golf; others need a "gateway" plan before GSPro will even connect. Here is every plan structure, and what each unit costs to own for three and five years.

The six ways launch monitors charge you

01

No plan at all

You own every feature. Extras are one-time add-ons or pay-per-round credits. GSPro, if you want it, is still $250 a year.

Examples: Square Golf, Mevo Gen2, SC4 PRO, ES Tour Plus 2.0, Shot Scope LM1

02

Optional course plan

Range and practice work free. A cheap yearly plan adds course play. The gentlest model.

Examples: Garmin R10 and R50 (Garmin Golf $99.99/yr), Full Swing KIT

03

Plan unlocks the simulator

The hardware works, but every simulator mode and third-party app sits behind the plan. Budget it as part of the price.

Examples: Rapsodo MLM2PRO and MLM2XPRO (Core $199.99/yr)

04

Gateway plan for third-party software

Data is free, but connecting GSPro or E6 needs the maker's plan on top of the software's own fee.

Examples: Uneekor Pro ($199/yr), Foresight+ Gold ($599/yr), Bushnell

05

Tiered course memberships

Several tiers with different course libraries. Year one is sometimes bundled. Prices differ by seller, so check the maker.

Examples: SkyTrak (Essential / Core / Elite), Foresight Course Pass (needs Silver or Gold too)

06

Mandatory software subscription

The unit needs the subscription to keep working fully after year one, and third-party sims aren't supported.

Examples: Trackman iO ($700–$1,100/yr), Trackman 4 (~$1,100/yr)

What each unit costs to own

Price plus the plan a typical owner needs to play full simulated courses. Where the first year is bundled, I leave it out. Sorted by 3-year cost.

"Typical plan" is my reading of what most owners pay to play courses: e.g. Garmin Golf for the R10, Rapsodo Core for the MLM2PRO, Silver + Course Pass for Foresight units, GSPro for no-plan units. Your number will differ if you only use the range.

What GSPro really costs on each unit

GSPro is the most popular third-party simulator software, at $250 a year. On some launch monitors it connects directly. On others you first need the maker's own plan, which can triple the yearly bill.

How to pay less over time

  • Decide on GSPro before you buy hardware. If you want it, a unit with no gateway plan (Square Golf, Mevo Gen2, Full Swing KIT, Garmin) saves $199–$599 every year.
  • Use the bundled first year to test. SkyTrak and Trackman include year one. Note the renewal date and decide whether you actually used course play.
  • Check the seller's plan price against the maker's. SkyTrak plan prices differed by seller when I checked (Essential $99.99 vs $129.99; Core $249.99 vs $299.99), so trust the maker's page.
  • Range-only? You may not need a plan. Garmin, Foresight and Bushnell give practice data free.

Plans change

Foresight moved every unit to Foresight+ on Sept 18, 2026, and long-time owners called it a bait-and-switch. Treat any plan as something that can change after you buy, and favor hardware you'd still be happy with on the free tier.

Questions people ask

Which launch monitors have no subscription?

Square Golf (Home Edition and Omni), FlightScope Mevo Gen2, Swing Caddie SC4 PRO, Ernest Sports ES Tour Plus 2.0, Shot Scope LM1, Phigolf 2 and OptiShot 2 need no yearly plan. Third-party software like GSPro is extra.

How much is the Rapsodo MLM2PRO subscription?

Rapsodo's Core plan (formerly Premium) is $199.99 a year and is needed for simulation and third-party software like GSPro, E6 and Awesome Golf. A Studios tier is $399.99 a year.

Do you need a subscription for the Garmin R10?

No. Range and practice data work free. Garmin Golf ($99.99/yr) adds Home Tee Hero course play on more than 40,000 courses.

How much is the Trackman subscription?

Trackman iO software is $700 a year on the Home tier (club speed only) or $1,100 on Complete. Trackman 4 software is about $1,100 a year. The first year is included with the hardware.

Does Foresight still sell FSX?

No. Since September 18, 2026 Foresight sells Foresight+ plans (Free, Silver $199/yr, Gold $599/yr) with the Premier app. Gold is needed for third-party software like GSPro. Course Pass ($295 or $595/yr) adds courses and needs Silver or Gold on top.
