Trackman golf simulator: what it really costs
Trackman is the name most people know, and the price most people underestimate. Here's what a home Trackman setup costs, which unit fits which room, and when I'd pick something else.
Carry & Spin is reader-supported. If you buy through links on this page I may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. It never decides what I recommend, and no brand pays to be included. Affiliate disclosure

For a home simulator, Trackman really means two products. The Trackman iO mounts on the ceiling and was built for indoor rooms. The Trackman 4 is the radar unit you see on tour ranges, which also works in a deep studio.
Both lock you into Trackman's software, and both need a yearly subscription after the first year. That fee, plus no GSPro support, is the main reason I'd only point dedicated, high-budget rooms at Trackman.
The Trackman lineup

Trackman
Trackman iO
Overhead radar + cameras · Trackman software only

Trackman
Trackman 4
Dual radar behind the ball · range + studio
Launch monitor only (no enclosure or projector). Plans = what a typical owner pays for course play, my math.

Which one I'd buy
Trackman iO
For a home room, I'd choose the iO over the Trackman 4. It's built for indoors, keeps the floor clear, switches easily between left- and right-handed golfers, and owners say putting and chipping work well.

The room a Trackman simulator needs
Trackman's own guidance is a ceiling of 10 ft or more and a width of 15 ft or more, with the screen at least 10 ft from the ball for the iO. Trackman also sells an iO DUO for bays as narrow as 10 ft that serve both left- and right-handed golfers.
The Trackman 4 needs a long room: Trackman's pages give 16 ft (tech specs) and 18 ft+ (blog) from the unit to the screen.
Check your own numbers with the room size calculator or read the full room size guide.

Plans and software
iO: Home is $700 a year (club speed only) and Home Complete is $1,100 a year; year one is included. Trackman's own comparison lists 70 courses on Home and all courses on Home Complete.
Trackman 4: about $1,100 a year after year one. Neither unit supports GSPro.

How much is a Trackman golf simulator for home?
The Trackman iO starts at $13,995, Trackman's Tech Package from $19,290, and installed rooms from $43,995. Add $700–$1,100 a year for software after year one.
Can you use GSPro with Trackman?
No. Trackman iO and Trackman 4 run Trackman's own software only.
What ceiling height does Trackman need?
Trackman recommends 10 ft or more. The iO is ceiling-mounted, so low ceilings make installation difficult or impossible.
