Shot Scope LM1 review
At $200 this is a speed and distance trainer, not a simulator, and it's good at that narrow job.

I'd buy it if
Speed training and gapping on a tiny budget.
I'd skip it if
You want to play courses on a screen.
My take on the Shot Scope LM1
The LM1 shows club speed, ball speed and estimated distances with no phone and no plan. Owners say it's consistent, and more consistent with wedges than an older Swing Caddie SC200.
It doesn't measure spin, launch or direction, and it can't run any simulator software. One reader reported no reads above about 115 mph club speed, and on mats it sometimes needs to sit on its case to read.
Buy it for speed training and gapping. Don't buy it expecting to play courses.

What I'd check before buying
- No simulator support
- Reads above ~115 mph club speed
- Placement on mats
How I put this review together: I haven't had this unit in my own bay. It's built from Shot Scope's own pages, retailer listings, published reviews and owner reports, each linked below. My research method.
The real cost of the Shot Scope LM1
I saw it at $199.99. No subscription and no simulator support.
| Plan or add-on | Per year | Required? | What it unlocks |
|---|---|---|---|
| None | $0 | Optional | Free Shot Scope app with session history; 'No Subscription Fees' |
- Year one
- $200
- Three years
- $200
- Five years
- $200
My math: price + the yearly plan a typical owner needs to play full courses (none). Excludes net, mat, screen and projector. Compare every plan.

The room it needs
The Shot Scope LM1 is a radar unit (behind ball (~1.4-1.5 m / about 5 ft)). Radar units read the ball's flight, so they need space behind you for the unit and enough distance in front for the ball to fly before the screen.
| Unit behind the ball | 4.6 ft |
|---|---|
| Ball to screen (minimum) | Not published |
| Room depth (minimum) | Not published |
| Room width (minimum) | Not published |
| Ceiling (minimum) | Not published |
| Indoor / outdoor | Indoor + Outdoor |
| Special balls or stickers | none |
Placement: 55 in / 1.4 m (setup section), 1.5 m (spec), ~5 ft (press release), ~6 ft (PlayBetter/Golf Digest ME). No minimum net distance published. IPX3 water resistance, ~5 hr battery.

What it measures (and what it estimates)
Makers rarely label which numbers are measured and which are calculated. Where the sources split them, I show it. A calculated value isn't useless, but it's more likely to drift indoors.
Measured
- club head speed
- ball speed
Calculated / estimated
- smash factor
- carry distance
- total distance
Only 5 metrics; no spin, launch angle, peak height or left/right. Press release says smash factor is calculated; Golf Insider says carry is estimated from modelled ball data (heavy mishits can read long). Measured/calculated split for speeds inferred from radar design.
Software and compatibility
Native apps: Shot Scope app (post-session sync), on-device 3.5 in color screen. Runs on standalone, iOS/Android via Shot Scope app (OS list not stated on product page).
| Simulator software | Works? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| GSPro | No | No simulator support (Plugged In Golf) |
| E6 Connect | No | No simulator support |

What published reviews found
These outlets published their own reviews. I summarize their headline verdict; read the full review for their testing details.
The best launch monitor you can buy for the money - and it isn't close (8.5/10), tested vs GC Hawk.
Best value in launch monitors for improvers, though no spin, launch or sim features.
Does exactly what you'd want from a budget launch monitor (4.1/5); accuracy questionable at times.
Headline: 'The £200 launch monitor that actually delivers' (page not opened).
Launch news headline: 'might just blow up the market' (not a test).
